Surabaya, August 17, 2024 – In commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, The Alana Surabaya held a flag-raising ceremony that was not only solemn but also incredibly unique. The ceremony showcased Indonesia's rich cultural heritage by involving all hotel staff, who donned traditional attire from various regions across the country.
The event, held on August 17, attracted attention for its vibrant and distinctive display of Indonesian cultural diversity. All staff members of The Alana Surabaya wore traditional clothing from Aceh to Papua, creating a lively and colorful atmosphere.
“We wanted to celebrate Independence Day in a different and more meaningful way. This ceremony is a tribute to Indonesia's cultural richness and a reminder of the importance of unity in diversity,” said Agus Anom Suroto, General Manager of The Alana Surabaya.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Red and White flag accompanied by the national anthem "Indonesia Raya," and concluded with a communal breakfast and the distribution of competition prizes. The colorful ceremony provided a deep visual and emotional experience for the staff.
In addition to the flag-raising, the event also featured an exhibition of miniature traditional attire worn by the staff, giving hotel guests an opportunity to learn more about Indonesia’s cultural diversity. This presentation is hoped to inspire people to appreciate and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the nation.
“By wearing traditional clothing from across Indonesia, we want to show that despite our differences in culture and traditions, we are still one as a nation. We hope this event will strengthen our sense of nationality and unity among us all,” added Sharfan Armanda, As Marketing Communication Manager of The Alana Surabaya.
