National Batik Day is celebrated every 2 October in Indonesia. This date was chosen to commemorate UNESCO's recognition of batik as a Humanitarian Heritage for Oral and Intangible Culture in 2009.
In commemoration of this Indonesian cultural day, The Alana Hotel & Conference Center – Sentul City held a batik class with traditional batik makers from Cibuluh Batik Village which was attended by the guests in attendance.
In this event, The Alana Hotel & Conference Center – Sentul City introduced the existence of an area where the majority of the profession is batik making, namely Cibuluh Batik Village an Educational Tourism Village Program, which develops the potential of the region, namely Batik, through Education and a Creative Economy Focused on Empowerment Mothers as a Contribution to Gender Equality in Indonesia.
The guests were very enthusiastic at the event, some of them learned to create new patterns guided by skilled batik makers and some others drew batik with typical Bogor patterns or motifs. Apart from learning how to make batik, guests also received a surprise gift in the form of a batik pouch specially made for guests staying at The Alana Hotel & Conference Center – Sentul City.
