Yogyakarta, November 28, 2024 – The Alana Malioboro Hotel & Conference Center (The Alana Malioboro) has achieved national recognition at the Indonesia Sustainable Development Goals Award (ISDA) 2024. The prestigious event, organized by the Corporate Forum for CSR Development (CFCD) in collaboration with the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), took place on November 28, 2024, at Hotel Raffles Jakarta. ISDA is a distinguished platform in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category, held annually to honor companies in Indonesia that successfully implement CSR programs and contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Alana Malioboro received a Gold award for its Turtle Conservation Program. Initiated in 2017, this program focuses on protecting the endangered green and olive ridley turtles at Goa Cemara Beach, Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Mino Raharjo fishermen group, which manages the program.

The program includes constructing a 35-square-meter turtle conservation area, providing routine turtle feedings, operational equipment, and hosting special events to raise public awareness through tourists and online media.

Since the program's inception, the turtle egg hatching success rate has increased from 66% to 72%, the number of eggs handled has doubled from 1,194 annually to 2,633, and the number of turtles released into the wild has tripled from 4,906 to 13,501.

Denny S. Wasana, General Manager of The Alana Malioboro, expressed his gratitude, saying,
"We sincerely thank CFCD and BAPPENAS for recognizing The Alana Malioboro. This award motivates us to continue implementing sustainable programs that positively impact the environment, society, and future generations. The Turtle Conservation Program reflects our commitment to environmental preservation and contributes to achieving the SDGs, particularly Goal 14: Life Below Water. We hope this success inspires more people to care about the conservation of endangered species and their ecosystems."

This award highlights The Alana Malioboro's role as a pioneer in sustainability-focused CSR management. Alongside the Turtle Conservation Program, The Alana Malioboro actively pursues other sustainability-driven CSR initiatives, including preserving local culture, empowering communities, and promoting energy efficiency and waste management.

By winning this Gold award, The Alana Malioboro aims to continue contributing to the 17 SDGs set by the United Nations.
"We believe collaboration is the key to creating a greater impact. Therefore, we will keep working with various stakeholders, including the government, communities, and private sectors, to collectively realize sustainable development," said Tian Riauska Fandy, Public Relations Manager at The Alana Malioboro.

The Alana Hotel & Conference Center Malioboro hopes this achievement not only marks a milestone for the company but also serves as a starting point for more parties to actively contribute to environmental preservation and the realization of the SDGs in Indonesia.
