ARCHIPELAGO HOLDS BED MAKING BATTLE: 40 HOUSEKEEPERS' COMPETITION TO IMPROVE HOUSEKEEPING SKILLS

Malang, February 26, 2025 - The hospitality industry continues to face challenges in the availability of skilled labor, especially in housekeeping. As a form of commitment in improving the quality of human resources in this sector, Archipelago held Archipelago Bed Making Battle, a competition that brought together 40 housekeepers from various Archipelago hotel units in East Java and Central Java to pit their speed and tidiness in making the bed within 3 minutes. 


This competition is not only a showcase of skills, but also part of Archipelago's efforts in training skilled housekeeping personnel who are ready to enter the world of hospitality work. The competition emphasizes efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to Archipelago standards, as well as strengthening the housekeeping team's sense of community and professionalism. 
In addition to the competition, the event was also attended by students & staff from 12 hospitality schools (SMK), media representatives, and invited guests, who took part in an inspirational talk show highlighting the success stories of Mr. Bintang Adhipradipta, General Manager of favehotel Pamanukan, and Mr. Billy Christian, General Manager of Hotel Neo Dipatiukur, with moderator Ms. Sari Kusumaningrum, Archipelago's Senior Director of Corporate Communications & PR. The speakers shared their career journey in the hospitality industry, providing motivation for the participants.

Not only that, Sharing Session: Level Up Skill & Technology to Improve Productivity presented by PT XC Cleanindo (I Clean), PT Exinergy Indonesia and PT Zees, presented the latest technological innovations in the housekeeping world, helping participants improve work efficiency.


Within three minutes, all participants pitted their speed and tidiness in making the bed with an assessment based on:

  • Grooming standards - neatness of appearance, personal hygiene, and uniform attributes.
  • Neatness and aesthetics - perfection of the appearance of the bed after tidying.
  • Accuracy and precision - alignment of sheets, pillows, and tuck-in density.
  • Speed and efficiency - completing tasks quickly without compromising quality.
  • Overall presentation - overall presentation of the bed in readiness to welcome guests.

Adherence to standard operating procedures.
The judges for this competition were:

  • Hamidah Bachri (Corporate Executive Housekeeper Archipelago)
  • Sari Kusumaningrum (Senior Director Corporate Communications & PR Archipelago)
  • Bintang Adhipradipta (General Manager of favehotel Pamanukan)
  • Billy Christian (General Manager of Hotel Neo Dipatiukur).

Winners of the Bed Making Battle 2025 received trophies, cash, hotel vouchers and exclusive goodie bags from sponsors, including King Koil, PT Exinergy Indonesia, Lady Americana USA, PT Yulia Mega Hasta, Spring Air, I Clean, PT Surya Barutama Mandiri and Zees.

The winners of the Archipelago Bed Making Battle 2025 are:

  • Bed Making Campion: Diki Candra from Aston Inn Pandanaran Semarang
  • 2nd Winner: Lukman Arif from Aston Mojokerto Hotel & Conference Center
  • 3rd Winner: Imam Arif from favehotel Solo Baru
